If you're looking to get outdoors this summer on a walking holiday, Thredbo is a great place for it, with alpine walks and bush trails galore.
This is Alexis Sirman?s first season as a walking guide for Thredbo and she?s in awe of everything she sees as she guides visitors around.
She recommends the well-known Alpine Lakes Walk as the go-to alpine walk this summer, rated as the ?best one? by the guides.
This is a 19km walk, rated moderate to strenuous in terms of fitness and begins in Thredbo village, ending in Charlotte?s Pass with a vehicle ride back to Thredbo. Alexis says her favourite thing about this walk are the wildflowers.
?It is really special, it?s one of 187 places in the world recognised for its biodiversity. And it?s pretty amazing how we can take a casual walk on the rooftop of a continent?.

The Alpine Lakes Walk works on a ratio of one guide per 10 people, although in peak season group numbers average eight as there are more guides.
The guides won?t take anyone under age 15 as ?it?s pretty remote out there?.
The alpine walk goes out to Mt Kosciuszko and passes by all five glacial lakes, the only glacial lakes in Australia. The group eats lunch at the highest peak of the walk at Carruthers (2145 metres) as well as passing by some old ruins and an old ski lodge.
There are plenty of opportunities to take photos along the way. ?It?s pretty breathtaking? Alexis says.
At Charlotte?s Pass, the group celebrates the finish of the walk with a glass of champagne, some snacks and cold beer before being transported back to Thredbo. During peak season there are two Alpine Lakes walks per week, dropping to one per week once peak season concludes. The cost is $74 per person and is a full day from 9am to 5.30pm, with the group meeting 10 minutes prior to starting out.
