The June Long weekend is the traditional start to the snow season but there isn't necessarily a lot of skiing or snowboarding going on. ?Many people who come for the weekend don't even pack the boards and boots because it is all about the party.
This year is no exception with a weekend packed full of party action and family fun. ? The action kicks in on Friday Afternoon with the first Rekorderlig Pool Party from 2 pm on-wards at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel followed by Amy Chase and Scotty Pullin pumping up the music in the Schuss Bar from 9 pm.
On Saturday Japanese Ice Sculpture master Kenji Ogawa will start a weekend of chilly chiseling to produce some frozen masterpieces in the Village Square. ?Thredbo's new Snow Play area is set to open on Saturday afternoon with toboggan action and fun ?for the family. ?The pool party is back again on Saturday before the Thredbo Street Party Featuring SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM from 6 pm in the Village Square.
Sunday sees the return of ?a burgeoning ?Thredbo Institution, the Opening Weekend Long Lunch. ?With a?huge table running the full length of the Village Square and sponsored by ?Mumm Champagne the Long Lunch is well worth the ticket and at $80 for 3 courses and champagne to burn it is great value.
The ?Long Weekend partying winds up with a Sunday Night Rail Jam with ?Snow Boarders and Skiers jibbing it up ?under lights followed by the return of the Smirnoff Snowdome to finish the weekend on a high.
