The Thredbo Blues Festival ?2019? on January 18-20 is year 25 for this Iconic music event and it is going as strong as ever.??The program?for 2019 is another cracker and if you haven't been to a Blues Festival in Thredbo before, now is your chance. ?Picture this.... ?Drive into a beautiful Alpine Village surrounded by one of the countries largest national parks. ?Park your car for the weekend, put on your cruisin shoes and wander into a village full of music. ?Close to 80 musicians playing in 20 different bands in gigs all over the village, even at the top of the chairlift.
Headlining Thredbo for 2019 is Russell Morris, back? after launching the 3rd? in his multi award winning series of blues albums exploring Australian history.? ?Jeff Lang is also back? to? the festival that started it all for him.? His performances at Thredbo are spellbinding and he is a must see for any Thredbo first timers.? 19 Twenty are back again due to popular demand and the festival directors have promised to slot them into the big venues so you can go off like a frog in a sock.
New to Thredbo? for 2019 is Gwyn Ashton but he is no newcomer to blues having played with,? or opened for just about everyone including BB King, Mick Fleetwood, Ray Charles and 20 other big names.? Gwyn brings his solo show to Thredbo leaving a wake of rave reviews behind and promising old style blues and blues rock? guitar playing that aims to please.? ? Also new to Thredbo is Anna Scionti a "set to launch"? blues rocket from Melbourne, Ivor SK one of the young guard of blues players making waves here and overseas? and Jed Rowe a soulful folk blues player from Melbourne who is also turning heads.

19Twenty Bring their High Energy party to Thredbo Blues
Gigs over the weekend are in all kinds of venues from the Village restaurants offering dinner and show, to the bars and nightclubs including the Apres Bar at the Denman, the Schuss and Keller bars in the Alpine Hotel and the House of Ullr. ?Candlelight lodge and the Black Bear in are on the program bringing some classic old Thredbo lodge vibe into the weekend. ?For drama and excitement it is hard to beat the gigs at Eagles Nest restaurant at the top of the chairlift and for an afternoon of fun in the sun, the Poolside gigs at the Alpine hotel are hard to beat with band after band of amazing music and comfy chairs to kick back in and soak up the view of the mountains above.
