For the past 3 weekends we have had snow falling in the village. With an already deep cover of snow on the Main Range, conditions for spring Ski touring and Snow shoeing are the best we have had in a long time.
Even though the lifts in Thredbo are shut for skiing in the resort, you can still ride the Kosciuszko Express chairlift to the top and then head out into the spectacular Main Range. With a vast expanse of snow covered terrain the Main Range has everything, from gentle slopes for a leisurely tour amongst the age worn granite to steep gullies and faces offering world class back country skiing and on a sunny day it is paradise. However this can be a tricky environment when the weather comes in so for all but the most experienced, it is a good idea to go with a guide when heading backcountry.
