The MTB momentum has been building in Thredbo and this summer season will see some serious changes to ?the trails and the way you can ride Thredbo. ?Whether you are new to Mountain Bike ?riding and looking for some guidance or you are a hard core rider looking to push the limits, ?Thredbo is ready for all comers. Gravity Downhill Developements. [caption id="attachment_8921" align="alignleft" width="300"]Tim Windshuttle Sam Brownlie test-ride the All Mountain track Tim Windshuttle Sam Brownlie test-ride the All Mountain track[/caption] On the Gravity Trail Network?the Kosciuszko Flow Trail is getting a full makeover to beef up the fun factor and keep this 7km trail cranking. ?Of course the Cannonball is Thredbo's most advanced track and as I type there is an excavator shaping up banks and jumps near the bottom of this iconic track that will give it a nice "Flying Finish". However the big news for Gravity Riding in Thredbo ?is the launch of the new "All Mountain Trail."? This new flow track winds its way down the mountain and ?promises unrivalled views down the Thredbo Valley as?the track descends through ?the Cruiser ski area before , winding ?through?some spectacular alpine forest as you?negotiate flowing switchbacks, smooth rollers, boulder rides and some fast downhill sections. Although not as steep and technical as the Kosciuszko Flow Trail, it offers advanced riders more difficult line options with or without the wheels leaving the ground.? Once you hit the??trailhead you ?can choose to either? continue along the village cross country network or keep the flow going on the amazing?Thredbo Valley Track with another 19km of riding from Thredbo to Lake Crackenback and beyond. New Cross Country Trail Network. The Thredbo Mountain Crew are also doing a full rework of the XC network ?to make sure the Village is Cross Country ready for the MTB Nationals?Round coming to Thredbo in February. While this trail network has some awesome?riding for advanced riders there are also new easy beginner and intermediate loops to give every level of rider some XC fun. The fun factor is also being ramped up with a full rebuild and expansion of the Pump Track on Thredbo's Village Green and the new improved MTB Skills Park with??sculpted berms, a progressive line of drops, ladder bridges and small rolling jumps. ?This is a great place to tweak your technique before hitting the big hill. Private Lessons are also available for those who prefer more one on one attention. The Thredbo MTB guides and instructors are Level 1 Professional Mountain Bike Instructor qualified.

Specifically for the 10-15 year old age group the Free Riders. These full day group workshops are an awesome way for kids to get on their bike and build solid, safe riding skills. Thredbo Valley Track [caption id="attachment_8923" align="alignleft" width="200"]TVT Bridge Riding TVT Bridge Riding[/caption] After years under construction the ??Thredbo Valley Track (TVT) opened last summer and soon won legions of fans, raving about the spectacular riding between Thredbo and Lake Crackenback along 20km of inspiring riverside track. The track starts? in Thredbo Village ?blending ?harmoniously with the natural environment as meanders in a gentle downhill flow along the banks of the Thredbo River. ? With impressive suspension bridges ,?eucalypt forests and grasslands the track is an excellent place for wildlife spotting and just enjoying the beauty of the Kosciuszko National Park.? Riders of all levels can enjoy the track from??families to experienced riders with plenty of opportunities for??taking breaks at stunning riverside locations or having??a picnic lunch ?at one of the grassy campgrounds. Novice riders can choose their distance as there are many entry and exit points along the way, while more experienced riders can take on the whole track and do the 40km loop, with the return section a providing quite the workout. Thredbo Valley Track 12km Rangers Station and return Thredbo-Valley-TRack-Thredbo-RiverThis is a great ride with a nice mix of terrain and highlights. The shared use track takes riders down the picturesque Thredbo Valley across three impressive suspension bridges to the old Rangers Station. It meanders along the banks of the famous Thredbo River undulating through eucalypts and grasslands. The Thredbo to Rangers Station section is the easier part of the ride with climbing required on the return trip. This is a shared use trail so it is used by walkers and bikers. If you are unsure about tackling a track of this length or you would like a few tips about riding on the way Thredbo offers some guided rides on the TVT. Guided Thredbo Valley Track Tours On your guided experience, you meet the Thredbo MTB guide and polish up your basic technique at the Skills Park. Then?hit the track and ride through lush sub-alpine vegetation with a nice mix?of uphill, downhill and sweet switchback sections. On arrival at Thredbo Diggings campground you are greeted with refreshments and a?courtesy vehicle to transport you back to Thredbo. Guests may bring their?own mountain bike however this will require a pre ride?inspection to ensure it is suitable for the track. Cross country?mountain bike rental is also available from Thredbo MTB. ?The tour to the diggings with return shuttle is only $40. ?
