With the Subaru Australian ?Mountain Bike ?Series Races 2 in Thredbo last weekend ?and the Interschools Championships coming up in March, Thredbo is in Mountain Bike Mode. ?The 2nd round of the Australian MTB series was a huge success in Thredbo ?with an action packed weekend of racing. From the spills and thrills of the Gravity Cup Downhill racing to the speed of the Cross Country?Eliminator?Sprint ?and the grit of the Cross Country events the weekend had plenty of action for everyone. ? ? World Champions Caroline Buchanan and Sam Hill took out the gravity cup honours with ?Chris Jongewaard ?and Rebecca Henderson winning the All Mountain Cross Country events. ? ?The new wave of?development?of Mountain Biking facilities in the village continues with a ?Pump Track opening on the Village Green. ?The ?track was christened on Friday night ?with a Pump Track challenge drawing riders of all ages.
This same track is sure to be a target for riders at the up coming Australian Interschools MTB Championships in Thredbo on March 15-17. ?This will be another big weekend of racing with Downhill and Cross country competitions as well as the Dual Compressor challenge at Friday Flat and another competition set for the Pump Track on the Saturday night. ? ?The other track that is set to get a workout is the new Kosciuszko Flow Track on the mountain. ?This 7km downhill ride has been getting the thumbs up from riders since it opened in December and it will be well suited to the younger riders at the interschools. ? ?You can download an entry form and information on the interschools here:
