While Thredbo gets ready for a ?Downhill Mountain Biking revolution, there is still plenty of action with the?development?of Cross Country trails in Thredbo and around the Snowy Mountains. ? ?the most exciting of the?developments?is the opening of ?a section of the Thredbo Valley ?Track running from Thredbo Village to the Ranger Station. ?This track will open in two stages this summer. ?The first stage will be 3.5km from Thredbo heading down the river and across 3 spectacular suspension bridges, giving great views of the river. ?From February the 2nd stage of this section will open with another 3.5kms of track leading through to the Ranger Station at the base of Twin Valleys. ? This will provide a great short ride with 7kms down the river and a return ride on the Alpine Way or ?just pedal back up the track. ?There are still 2 sections of the Thredbo Valley Track to complete after this one but ?every summer we get closer to having that 17km link from Thredbo to the Ski Tube.
The 2nd new track development to open this summer is a??new "Pump" Track that ?has been built at the bike crazy Lake Crackenback, to add to their already extensive cross country network. ?Only 15 minutes drive from Thredbo this is a great place for a morning or afternoon ride. ? Meanwhile in Jindabyne a?new section of track has just opened ?from Jindabyne to the Dam wall that now completes a?continuous?track from Jindabyne right around the dam wall and the lake to Tyrolean Village. ?This is great riding with spectacular scenery of the lake and the mountains behind. ? Well worth including this one in your list of rides ?to do on your next trip to the mountains.
With tracks being developed all over the mountains, the bike boom is?definitely on. ?
