It can snow in Thredbo at any time of the year so it is no great surprise to see a front move through on Wednesday afternoon dropping a couple of centimeters on the top of the mountain.? In spite of the wintery conditions the crew from National Runners week were out in force again with over 70 competing in day 4 of this week long event.
The runners spend a whole week in Thredbo with events every day from serious running races to fun runs, games, tennis tournaments,volley ball, mini biathlons and more.
One of the more prestigious events on the program is the Crackenback Challenge, a grueling race from the Village to the Top of the Kosciusko Express Chairlift at Eagles Nest.?? This year's winners were Jindabyne local Anthony Evans with a time of 21 minutes 16 seconds and? Vanessa Haverd in 27 minutes 23 seconds.? However fun is the focus of this 32 year old event and it has a great history? as Thredbo's longest running summer event.?? The Event is organised by the Canberra YMCA Runners Club. ?
