Jill and I have Tuesdays off so there is no prize for guessing where we were yesterday. ?Every day on snow is a good day but some are just exceptional and yesterday was one of those . ?After some very cold weather and 20cm of fresh snowfall on Monday the sun came out ?but the wind hung around. ?Many people are scared off by the wind in?Thredbo?but as a ?resident of 23 years I can tell you that some of the best days skiing I have had in Thredbo are on windy days. ?If there is fresh snow around ?the wind blows the snow off the Main Range and into the resort. ?It is just like having a giant snow making machine across the top of the mountain. ?Runs like the Bluff and Sponars Gully become a trap for this windblown snow, ? the wind fills in your tracks as you ski ?and you end skiing fresh tracks all day. ?That just about sums up what conditions are like in Thredbo at the moment.......
We still have some gaps left in August in the middle of the weeks and the snow looks like improving even more with ?snowfall forecast for the end of this week and some sunny days on the horizon. ?Check out our last minute deals page to see what gaps we have available.
