New Thredbo MTB Trails

With the kick off of the Thredbo Mountain bike season late-November, we have been introduced to some new Thredbo MTB trails for the 2022/23 season. There are 3 new trails on offer from Thredbo located on or around Thredbo’s Cruiser Chair.

For the first time Thredbo will be operating 3 chairlifts and the Merrit’s Gondola to service MTB trails on weekends and all week in the peak periods like school holidays and MTB events.

Sidewinder: Last years new trail addition.

This is an exciting time for Mountain Biking in Thredbo, as the increased lifting capacity means shorter queues during peak times, and with three new trails opening this year, there’s now more choices than ever for all riders.

Whether you want to dip your toes for the first time, or are an advanced rider wanting to try some new terrain, Thredbo could have what you are looking for. Here’s more about the latest trails:

Easy Rider

This is the new beginner trail starting at the top of the Cruiser Chairlift. Easy Rider gently makes its way down the slopes of the Cruiser MTB area and is the perfect starting point for those new to gravity mountain biking and looking for an introduction within the MTB park. From here, beginner riders then have the option to continue onto Sidewinder, take another lap on Easy Rider or download the Merritts Gondola.

The Grasshopper

This is Thredbo’s new intermediate grade flow trail. At 2.1km long with plenty of rolling jumps this could be the confidence builder you need to get to the next level!

Paparazzi

With amazing views and some more technical intermediate riding, Papparazzi is a photographer’s delight. Descending through the top of “The Bowl” the trail uses the terrain, rock clusters, flowing turns and natural features throughout. At the finish line, trailhead riders will have the option to link up with Grasshopper, Easy Rider or traverse to Lower All-Mountain.

With new trails opening up this year to add to last years contributions like Sidewinder, Thredbo is developing some excellent terrain options for all levels of Gravity Riding. The Cruiser chairlift area will fast become a focus for riders who are trying to build their skills and endurance before heading to some of the longer trails on the mountain.

If you’ve been playing with the idea of getting into Gravity MTB, this could be the year to try — and there’s no better base than The Lantern Apartments in Thredbo, perfectly positioned for riders to rest, refuel, and roll straight onto the trails. Book your stay now!

Thredbo’s Mountain bike school has instructors on board to show you the ropes.
