It is hard to believe that the Thredbo Jazz Festival has been running for 30 years. ?I can still remember my first Thredbo Jazz Festival ?in 1989 kicking back in the autumn sun, listening to the late Bernie McGann weaving some Sax Magic. Other magic Jazz moments for me were trombone and trumpet playing legend the late Tom Baker, blowing up a storm with the nascent Hoodanger Chris Tanner playing?his Thredbo ?debut at 16 years old,. ?There have been the international stars like Red Holloway, Ronnie Scott, Leroy Jones and Judy Carmichael and plenty more Australian Legends like Don Burrows, James Morrison, Jackie Orszaczky, Monica Trapaga, Kate Ceberano, Vince Jones. Paul Grabowsky and too many more to recall....Great Music every year, year on year.....And here we are 30 years on and it is happening again.... Australian Jazz Legend Bob Barnard is playing again in Thredbo with the Barnard Family Jazz Band. ?If you feel like a little cha cha then Chukale will be firing up a conga line with Australia's hottest?Latin Big Band. ?Another favourite big band back for 2017 is the Kirrawee High Band with bucket loads of energy and ?prodigious talent. ?If you like to live on the edge then the Matt McMahon's trio will put you there with their spellbinding improvisations. And of course there are those longtime love affairs that Thredbo has with the likes of ?George Washing Machine, Liza Ohlback, Lionel Robinson and many more?..
