Heading to Thredbo ski resort but don?t have a toboggan? You can always hire one for use at the Snow Play area or another idea is to make your own to do some joy riding on the slopes. To give you some inspiration here are some creative ideas for DIY snow worthy toboggans.
1. Make a toboggan sled out of old skis

This lightweight model will have you zipping down the slopes and it?s apparently sturdier than it looks. Though with all those holes cut into it you might want to keep it for adult use. Get the tutorial here.
2. Recycle Old Skis into a DIY Sled

Another sled that utilises old skis is this plastic tub sled, which is more kid friendly. The design is great for going really fast and straight but if you want to turn it you might be out of luck.Get the tutorial here.

For something a bit more high-tech check out this modern toboggan which is a step up from skis and a tub. You can seriously test your DIY skills and get use out of your power tools with this one.

4. Toboggan from a plastic barrel

This one is apparently fast to make and fast on the slopes, so you won?t be tinkering in your garage for days on end. The catch is though you need a 55 gallon plastic barrel, not an everyday item you can add to your shopping list. Get the tutorial here.
5. Snow Sled for Adventure Seeking Kids and Adults

This one has a similar shape to the one above but is made completely from wood and you can fit quite a few family members on the finished toboggan. This wooden sled can handle deep snow as its broad smooth bottom simply glides over the crust. Get the tutorial here.

Designed with kids? safety in mind, this toboggan can be made with whatever materials you have on hand. It sits up off the skis so as to minimise drag with the help of two sets of ?risers? which are screwed together with a hefty amount of metal.
