Thredbo Blues Festival gets real in 2015 .
Posted on Thursday, 13th of November 2014
The Thredbo Blues Festival 2015 is on the 16 – 18th of January and it is bigger than ever . If you haven’t been to the Thredbo Blues check out this video for a glimpse into this amazing weekend that musicians and festival fans come back for year after year.
The 2015 event is the 21st Blues Festival so it is a special year with some very special performers on the program. Headlining the Festival is the Legendary Russell Morris …(yes the Real Thing!) whose Aria Award Winning blues album has been carving a new audience for this iconic Australian performer. Also back for 2015 is Thredbo’s all time favourite Jeff Lang, Rick Price, The Charismatic Ray Beadle and a whole box car full for exceptional blues performers including Triple J Unearthed kids Frank Sultana and the Sinister Kids, one man dynamo Shaun Kirk, Canadian Blues Man Charlie A’Court, Andrea Marr and her Funky Hitmen and many more
Don’t fooled, Thredbo Blues festival is not a huge event with 10,ooo people. It is a cosy little festival where the largest audience for any gig will be less than 300 people. Most gigs are even cosier so you get up close and personal with the players in venues with 30 to 50 people. The performers also play more than once with 3 or 4 gigs often programmed in over the weekend for each act. This means you can see your favourites a couple of times and by the end of the weekend you will feel like old friends.
This same sense of familiarity works for the players as well and most musicians who play in Thredbo say it is their favourite festival because it feels like they are part of the party from the moment they arrive….. And with close to 100 musicians playing over the weekend in venues all over the village and up on the mountain it is a big party.
You can book a full weekend festival pass with unlimited chairlift rides for the whole weekend including free chairlift access. You can also book an accommodation package with us from $345 per person twin share with 2 nights accommodation and the festival pass or as low as $245 for a group.
