The Cannonball Cometh
Posted on Monday, 28th of October 2013
The Cannonball MTB Festival is here for 2013. Without doubt, this is the biggest Mountain Bike Downhill Festival ever held in Thredbo. This event is set to bring a riders from around Australia and the globe. With close to $40,000 in prizes over 4 events there are plenty of reasons to bring your bike to Thredbo from December 6-8 this year. The signature event is of course the Cannonball Downhill on Thredbo’s infamous, and recently revamped downhill track. World class riders will be lining up to hurl themselves down this gnarly course with $5000 in cash up for grabs. Also on the downhill program is the “Flow Motion” race on Thredbo’s new flow track with less granite and more glide, this is a race for the style masters.
Leaving the downhill racing aside there is the Whip Wars Big Air Bonanza and if that sounds hectic, you guessed it! Last but not least on this big biking weekend is the Pump Challenge under ligths on Thredbo’s new Pump Track. There is plenty of alternative action in the village with a promise of non stop music and entertainment with The Potbelleez head lining a weekend of entertainment including DJ’s and live bands. There are classifications in each event for all levels so you don’t need to be a pro rider to join in the competition. You can sign up for all events for $199 or take your pick and if you are not competing, there is no cost, just join in the fun. We have our 3rd night free accommodation offer available on that weekend so you can book your Thredbo accommodation with us, pay for 2 nights and stay for 3. We have apartments available from 1 bedrooms right through to 4 bedroom properties. Sign up for the event here or book your accommodation here:
