New Guided Walks for Summer Season 2013-14
Posted on Thursday, 24th of October 2013
Seeing a Lunar eclipse is an enthralling experience especially if you can see it away from the lights of the big city. It gets even better if you view it from a higher vantage point so watching a Lunar Eclipse from the summit of Mt Kosciuszko has to be the best viewing point in the country. You can do exactly that on April 15th 2014 with one of Thredbo’s latest additions to their guided walk program. The Lunar Eclipse walk will leave The top of the Kosciuszko Express chairlift on the afternoon of April 15th in time to reach the Summit for Sunset, the moonrise and the Eclipse…and this is just one of a list of guided walks available in Thredbo this summer. Other unique walks include the Australia Day Kosciuszko Climb. Join the crew and wave the flag from the highest flag pole on the continent. Or bring your sweetheart to the mountains for Valentines Day and join the Valentines Day Alpine Lakes Walk. This walk offers the most spectacular scenery of any of the walking tracks in the High Country and with complimentary champagne at the end it is a unique and romantic way to spend Valentines together.
You can also join Full Moon walks to the summit of Mt Kosciusko every month from November to April. Be on the summit to watch the sunset and the moon rise and then head back to Thredbo under a blanket of stars. Even if you can’t make it for the full moon there are the sunset walks to the summit with an even more breathtaking walk back under a dark night with the best view of the Milky Way you will ever get. Of course you can join guided walks to Mt Kosciuszko every week and during daylight hours and the expert guides will give you a wealth of information about the unique Alpine landscape and the diversity of plants and animals you can see along the way. While only the Kosciuszko Walk and the Australia Day walk are suitable for children, there are the Kids Night Adventure walks during school holidays that will give the kids there own taste of night time in the High Country bush.
You can book your guided walks when you book your accommodation with us using the online shop or just call and we can book it for you. It is a good idea to book to make sure you don’t miss out as places are limited om most walks. To find out more about the walks click here
