Spring Snow Tours, Thredbo’s best kept secret.

The Snow resort areas of Thredbo, Perisher and Charlotte’s Pass cover less than 2% of the Snow Covered high country. Th rest of this vast expanse of Snow Country lies within the Kosciuszko National Park. The good news is that from the top of the Kosciusko Express Chairlift in Thredbo you can easily explore this snow covered wilderness. Within 15 minutes you will be among age worn granite tors and wind sculptured Snow Gums, on a rolling high plateau unlike anywhere else on earth. The Australian Alps are a spectacular and unique Alpine landscape and you need to be well prepared to explore it. Fortunately there are several operators providing guided Snow Shoe Tours from Thredbo or if you want a little adrenaline charge as well, a guided ski tour or snow board tour offers the chance to ski in some of Australia’s best downhill terrain. Of course, from the Top of the Kosciuszko express chairlift, you will have to put in a little exercise on one of these tours but if you are fit enough for a round of golf you are fit enough for a Snow Shoe tou
There is more to the mountains in Spring than the ski touring and Snow Shoe tours. The thawing snow cover sends large volumes of water down the alpine rivers so the cascades and waterfalls are at their best and the walking tracks along the Thredbo River give you easy access to see this beautiful sight.
Spring touring can continue right through October subject to snow cover and it is the cheapest time of year to stay in Thredbo with our “Summer Season” 3rd night free accommodation deals. You can stay from as little $380 for 2 people for a 3 night stay. There is plenty to do in Thredbo with shops and restaurants still open. Spring is a special time of year to be in the mountains.
