Spring activity options in Thredbo
Spring in Thredbo is a great time to mix things up with a huge variety of activity options. There is still snow cover on the top half of the mountain and the T bar runs at the Basin and Karel’s are still operating in Thredbo. As a result of the reduction in the available runs Thredbo has reduced the lift pass prices to the summer season rates of $33 per day per adult. This makes the spring skiing on the Basin lift in the morning particularly attractive.
As well as skiing and snowboarding on these lifts, there is also the opportunity to try some other very popular spring season activities like Snow Shoe tours and ski touring in the back country areas from the top of the chairlift. You can join a guided snow shoe tour to Mt Kosciuszko or for experienced skiers you can try ski touring out from Thredbo into the spectacular Rams Head Range. Guided trips are available through Thredbo Snow Sports or K7 Adventures.
Perisher Valley, have more lifts at higher elevation so they are still operating plenty of lifts for spring skiing and snowboarding. To make it easier for guests staying in Thredbo the Ski Tube offers a direct service to Perisher Resort. The ski tube is 10 minutes’ drive from Thredbo so it is a very convenient for people staying in Thredbo who would like to try skiing or Snow Boarding in Perisher.
As Thredbo village is in the valley, many of our summer season activities are starting up early. With the summer season pricing, you are also able to my the “All mountain pass” which includes access to the leisure centre with heated pool, waterslide, gym and sports hall, the village bobsled run and golf and tennis.
There are also our other popular summer season activities including the new Thredbo Valley Mountain Bike trail that runs beside the Thredbo River for 7km from Thredbo downstream to the Ranger Station. Mountain bikes are available for hire in the village. Of course, the Snowy Mountains are synonymous with Horse Riding and the Thredbo Valley Trail rides will be operating throughout spring .
Although the spring snow conditions are not as good as normal, there is still skiing and snowboarding as well as plenty of excellent holiday activities in the mountains. Imagine a week of holiday activities including Skiing , Snow Shoeing, Mountain Biking, Horse Riding and even trout fishing on Lake Jindabyne. Spring in the mountains is a great time to try a wide range of activities and we are happy to help with more information of activity bookings.
