From May 3 to 5 2013  Thredbo Jazz  is on again .  Renowned amongst musicians as “the best gig on the calendar”  Thredbo Jazz  2013 is offering an an inspired program of world class musicians.  With Jazz as the theme, the performers this year will explore the boundaries with Jazz, Funk, Blues,  Soul,  Latin, Indian, and African and middle eastern influences all appearing on the program.  With all performances in a spectacular  alpine setting and  the venues concentrated in the Village Centre and at the top of the chairlift,  you can park the car for the weekend and just soak up the vibe of what is shaping up to be a ground breaking weekend of Jazz inspired music.

Performing at Thredbo Jazz 2013 are the  New Zealand based Carolina Moon Ensemble with a world music jazz fusion that is as exciting as it is masterful.  With the powerful, exotic vocals of Carolina Moon and the guitar virtuosity of Kiwi guitar legend Nigel Gavin leading the charge,  this group will astound. The Tek Tek Ensemble are another charismatic starter for Thredbo Jazz 2013 with music spanning  many genres but leading with a classic 1920′s Hot club/latin  format that oozes style and panache.  This group will fill the air with atmosphere and the dance floor with tango. Get  a Taste Here:

Indiajiva is a 5 piece collective lead by multi instrumentalists Ron Ragel and Vicki Hansen,  with Australian guitar virtuoso Ian Date, Tabla player Nigla Hagglund and Emmanuel Leiberfreund on Sax and flute,  this amazing group of players will explore a unique blend of Indian Raga influenced Jazz in synthesis of sound that will transport you to a place beyond East and West.

Also appearing at Thredbo Jazz 2013 are Feel the Manouche, Lionel Robinson Quartet, Rick Roberston Trio,  Afro Moses Trio, Naf Nazario trio, Jeff Duff Trio, Harry Brus’ Rythm Ride, Continental Robert and the Rinky Dinks, Jules Boult and the Redeemers and Thredbo’s Favourite Kirrawee High School Band.
