The 2014 NSW State Downhill Series will kick off with round one in Thredbo as the states battling it out to gain some early season points. A state race is often a good starting point for new comers to the sport to have a crack at racing in a laidback friendly environment. The chairlift will be closed for public mountain biking access on the 13th.

Thredbo’s famous Blues festival returns once again in 2014 for its 20th year.
The 2014 Thredbo Blues Festival will deliver a stage for some of Australia’s finest blues artists and a platform for some amazing up and coming performers to showcase their musical talents. With over 20 bands, each playing three or four gigs over the weekend, this year is set to be one of the biggest yet.
Artists will be performing in both public venues and in intimate dining environments at various restaurants in Thredbo Village. There will also be a collection of roving bands around the Village Square, some performing at Eagles Nest Restaurant at the top of the mountain and even poolside performances at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel.

The Dirt Maidens Challenge is a women’s only bike events designed for all levels of experience in riding. Anyone from beginners to regular weekend warriors will compete for their team; the spots, the stripes or the stars. The event includes the gravity XC and XC challenges, entertainment and dinner after the event.

This is the eleventh year of the Snowy Ride, a motorcycle event run annually in the Alpine Region of NSW. The event has raised in excess of 3 million dollars for the Steven Walter Foundation.
The Steven Walter Foundation which is the organiser and main benefactor of the Snowy Ride. is a non-profit organisation which was started following the passing of nineteen year old Steven Walter after an eight year battle with cancer The Foundation is involved in raising money for research into childhood cancer and the side effects of cancer treatment in children.
All monies raised by the Foundation goes to childhood cancer research programs and support of children with cancer.The aim of the Snowy Ride was to involve the motorcycle riders of Australia into raising money for research into childhood cancer and its side effects and to give the local volunteer organisations of the Snowy mountains area the chance to raise money for their own communities.

Learn to Swim will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 10.30am – 4.00pm. The cost of each lesson will be $15.00 and lesson’s run for half an hour. Your child will become competent with water safety in a fun environment. Progression would be towards a swim squad with the focus being on fun!

Afternoon Squad’s will be running from Monday through to Thursday’s @ 4.30 – 6.00 pm. Directed towards children but can take Adults as well.

Time to lace up the boots and hits the tracks for the opening of the walking season. Guided walking tours are available with the Mt Kosciuszko Summit Guided Walks departing every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Alpine Lakes Walks, Full Moon Walks, Sunset Walks and special event walks are also available from December to April.

Get your body into shape before summer with the Thredbo Leisure Centre Boot Camp Sessions. Workouts will be in the gym, in the pool and the great alpine outdoors around Thredbo. We will work on strength, conditioning, cardio, boxing, climbing, swimming, bike riding, rowing and running. All your individual results will be recorded and presented at the end of the camp. It will include a set program working on both strength and fitness with testing at the beginning and end to see how far you’ve progressed.
This is a great way to kick start your summer of fitness and get ready for some of the great events we have in the region over the warmer months
