I love Autumn in Thredbo, it is my favourite time of the year. The nights get a little frosty but the daytime temperatures are warm enough to read a book in the sun without the heat to make you really sweat on a mountain bike ride or hiking on the main range. The other thing I really love about Autumn in the mountains is the changing light and the crystal clear skies. As the sun drops into the north a little more the light changes and the shadows start to lengthen giving everything a sharper edge. The leaves on the alpine heather seem to shine and the rivers sparkle. You really start to notice this changing light when you get up high on the Ramshead Range or on Mt Kosci and look at the view. The air has lost the summer haze and dust and on a clear day in Autumn you can see forever.
There is plenty to do this Autumn in Thredbo. With the School holidays from April the 9th, the Thredbo Jazz, Funk and Groove Festival on the 15th of April and the Easter and Anzac day holidays starting from the 22nd of April, there are plenty of chances to head to Thredbo and clear your head.
With the exception of the Easter/Anzac break our 3rd night free offer is available throughout Autumn and we have the Family Boredom Buster package available in the School Holidays so you can also save when you stay. Click here to book.
