Classically Blue Play Thredbo Again after 10 years

Thedbo_Blues_Festival_ArtistsThe Thredbo Blues Festival has been going strong now for 17 years and I have been to all but one of these weekends.   Out of all of the festivals  some of the best memories I have were of a band called “Classically Blue”.  Led   by Geoff Achison, an award winning guitarist with a gravelled voiced, Classically Blue is a unique band that mixes a  solid blues groove from Geoff and bassist Steve Sampson with accompanying Violin from Adrian Keating, principal violin for the Sydney Opera Company.  Adrian brings a classical music feel to the songs that contrasts perfectly with Geoffs Gutsy playing and vocals.  The arrangements are clever and  the effect is astounding.   If you are coming to Thredbo, don’t miss this band.    Also playing at the festival again this year are two Australian Blues guitar greats,  Jeff Lang and Ray Beadle.  Both still quite young players, these boys have been wowing Audiences since their teens and now they are finding new ways to play.  Jeff is on a constant musical search through the roots of blues using his prodigious talent to take his audience on a blues journey every time he plays.  This year Ray Beadle is bringing a horn section and with his jump style playing this can only mean one thing…Get ready to party.

With 19 other bands on the program there is no shortage of great music from up and coming stars to Australian Blues Legends… Click here to see the program.  The best thing about the Thredbo Blues Festival is that you can park your car for the weekend and walk to all the venues!  The Festival runs from Friday the 14th to the early hours of Monday the 17th of January.   If you book accommodation and a festival pass with us we can save you money on the pass.   We still have a few apartments left for the Blues including a couple of large Chalets at Snow Stream  so get some friends together and come to Thredbo, you won’t regret it.
